Ballet classes for children of all ages at SK Dance Studio, Appley Bridge, Wigan
To develop really good ballet technique, dancers need to be both dedicated and focused, so with the exception of our Saturday “Babies” class, SK Dance Studio teaches ballet in separate, specialist lessons on weekday evenings.
SK Dance Studio follows the world recognised ISTD syllabus (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) to offer fully accredited classical ballet classes. ISTD is a world recognised examination board and ballet exams from Grade 6 are eligible to accrue UCAS points. Our ballet class sizes are limited to a sensible number of students, which ensures teachers can properly focus on supporting and nurturing ballet technique.
SK Dance Studio’s ballet classes are well structured to cover set syllabus work at the barre and in the centre, including adage and allegro sections. Dancers work towards achieving graded ISTD examinations and when the time is right, progress to dancing en pointe – a real milestone for any budding ballerina!
Whether you’re a little girl, or a grown-up ballet dancer, there’s nothing quite like wearing a tutu and a pair of pink satin ballet shoes, so as well as exam work, there’s also plenty of opportunity for ballet students to use all they’ve learned in performance ballet pieces, set to both classical and contemporary music in our regular dance school shows.
Ballet is one of the most beautiful and graceful of all dance forms with the ability to really captivate both the audience and the dancer alike.
Ballet is the basis of so many other dance styles, including everything from modern dance, to ballroom and even ice dancing, so a really good understanding of classical ballet technique will stand any dancer in good stead for the future.
